Highlight on Local Government Week

On March 6, 2008 the Partnership for Local Government Education hosted an awareness event at the State Capitol in Springfield to highlight Local Government Week, March 2-8, 2008.  The Illinois Association of County Officials (IACO), the Illinois Association of Circuit Court Clerks (IACC) and several other affiliates organizations participated in this event.

The Partnership for Local Government is a collaboration formed to increase interest and involvement in local government in Illinois.  It is composed of the Illinois Association of County Board Members and Commissioners, Illinois Municipal League, Township Officials of Illinois and the University of Illinois Extension.

The IACC exhibited a display in the Capitol rotunda from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on March 6, 2008 and took the opportunity to speak with a number of legislators, House and Senate staff members, as well as colleagues from other affiliates organizations and state agencies.  The IACC website was displayed and the many duties and responsibilities of the office of the Circuit Court Clerk were enumerated as part of our exhibit booth.

It was a productive day and we enjoyed the opportunity to provide information and education about what the services and functions that the Circuit Court Clerk's office provides.  Thank you to John King, Bond County and Cindy Svanda, Jackson County for their contribution of bringing the electronic aspect to our display through the demonstration of our website.  Barb Brown, Randolph County and Carla Bender, Logan County, legislative co-chairs coordinated the day.  The committee thanks Charles Huebener, Jersey County; Neal Watkins, Johnson County; and Marty Typer, Ogle County for participating in the day's preparation and activities.
