From Rita Porter sent Thursday 02/28/08 9:33 AM.

I spoke with Sheryl's staff this morning and they said Sheryl is doing well.  She has been moved and her new address is:

Sheryl Frederick
c/o Provena Medical Center
1400 West Park
Room # 4436 B
Urbana, IL  61801

They informed me that Sheryl is continuing to be upbeat and positive and she is progressing well.  She was able to walk approximately 50 yards and was able to write her name.

Continue to keep her in your prayers.  You can pull up Provena Medical Center on the internet and able to send emails like you could on the Carle website.

From Rita Porter on Tuesday February 26, 2008

I got a phone call this afternoon late from Sheryl's office staff informing me that Sheryl is a patient at the Carle Hospital.  She has been diagnosed with Guillian-Barre Syndrome.  Below is a website that tells a little bit about it.  It was explained to me that the immune system messes up and it attacks the nerves which affected her use of her hands, legs and feet.

She is getting intravenous (sp) treatment iand will be going through physical therapy.  It could ve a lengthy recovery but she has a positive attitude and is fighting this.

She needs our prayers.  She has been dealing with her father in the hospital and he was not doing very well, but he has pulled out of it and is doing good right now and just came home from the hospital this week.

Jim Maxey Update

Submitted by Sandra Parker on Mon, 2008-02-25 18:21.
This morning Bill Maxey delivered some stuff to my office.  I asked him how Jim was doing with his new stem cells.  He said that his numbers were coming up the first and second day like they thought and then they really started shooting up and they are excited about how well they were going up and he may get to come home sooner than anticipated!!! (Like maybe in one more week or so!!!)   Pass it on .

Jim Maxey Update

Submitted by Sandra Parker on Thu, 2008-02-07 18:07.
Dear Fellow Circuit Clerks,

I just got off the phone with Jim Maxey---he called me about an hour after I called Byers, but he said he had not talked to them, so go figure......

Of course, you know how he sounds like a doctor now, with all his buzz words for stuff and I told him he needed to send John a e-mail to push this out to all of us, cause I didn't think I would get this correct, but here is what I scribbled:  (Its ALL GOOD NEWS)
The growth hormone they gave him to boost up his stem cells for harvesting, also boosted his lymphoma -he said everything grew-- so he did have to do another 2 1/2 weeks of extra chemo, which they choose something really wicked called DHAP.  But, it killed the Lymphoma good.
He said the lump on his back became concave after the DHAP.
